Nicaragua is the second-poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. The Nicaraguan people have been oppressed by corruption, politics and war for decades. We seek to empower and encourage, in any way possible, the local church leaders, business leaders, social workers, ministries, schools and others who have a heart to see transformation in their own community.

THIS COMMUNITY IS ONE OF OUR SPONSORED COMMUNITIES click to learn more

We work in communities throughout the world. Each community is unique and its resource needs vary. All our teams are committed to transformation. The community highlighted here is poised for growth. They're eager to connect with financial partners, organizational partners, and new strategic personnel. You can play a key role.

Community Overview

Despite the beauty of both the geography and the people here, Nicaragua holds claim to the title of being the second poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. Poverty is severe with 50% living on under a $2/day and 20% living on under $1/day. The Nicaraguan people have been oppressed by corruption, politics and war for decades, but nonetheless it is clear that God has been at work here longer than any of us. Today, Nicaragua is quite peaceful despite the oppression it still faces.

We bring people together to help the oppressed. We seek to empower and encourage, in any way possible, the local church leaders, business leaders, social workers, ministries, schools and others who have a heart to see transformation in their own community.

Our Response

Currently we are involved in the following areas:

  • Running small businesses
  • Launching a Chamber of Commerce
  • Building pre-schools
  • Running a chicken farm to donate eggs to pre-schools
  • Receiving college interns and short-term teams
  • Teaching English
  • Running a 7-acre farm that will soon sustain a drug/alcohol rehab center

INTEGRATED COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION

ENTER

When we enter a community, we seek to relate to and understand the community through the eyes of Jesus. This includes pre-training and ongoing on-field research.

EVALUATE and ENGAGE

We repeat a collaborative cycle that aims to work alongside others in the community to identify and assess both needs and resources. Alongside the community, we encourage initiatives guided by a strategy and help implement them.

EXPAND

As transformation takes hold in a community our role changes. We avoid creating unhealthy dependencies and focus on what Jesus is doing within the community. This typically leads to expansion as transformation impacts surrounding communities.
