Children at a water pump

Situated in one of the poorest countries in sub-Saharan Africa, this community of approximately 4,500 people face a number of economic and humanitarian challenges. Specifically, they lack access to clean, safe water and as recently as November 2016 they had no water at all.

Even though hand dug wells dot the landscape and can hold water during the rainy season, the wells' proximity to latrines make this muddy, bacteria-infested water unsafe for human consumption. We hope to properly place three additional borehole wells to provide abundant and clean water to this community. This clean water will maintain sanitary conditions which serves to avoid harmful and preventable waterborne diseases.
