Within Rockwood (Portland), Oregon, lies a neighborhood where one can hear 90 different languages spoken here as Somali women sit nearby, Iraqi men slowly walk past, children run to the park, and Spanish music streams from a nearby apartment. Here, almost 40% of the population lives near or below the poverty line. You can be a part of transforming this community.
We are looking for an intern who strives to build relationships with refugees and immigrants living in the Rockwood area, while also learning more about cross-cultural ministry and community development. You will also assist in an after-school program and tutoring center for pre-Kindergarten through high school aged students. There is also a possible opportunity to teach or assist in an adult English as a Second Language class.
